5 Body Waxing Treatments and Why You Should Try Them

Hair removal is a personal choice. But if you’re opting to tread this route, you might as well do it the right way: waxing treatments. Waxing is a smarter solution than shaving. It lasts longer, takes less time, and leaves the skin feeling silky smooth. It effectively removes body hair without irritating the skin.

If you’ve been wanting to try or are new to the waxing game, you might find yourself overwhelmed by all the types of treatments offered. To help lessen your worries and confusion, we’ve listed some of the most common wax treatments you can and should get.

1. Facial Waxing

To start from the top—literally—is the facial wax. Facial wax, as you can imagine, is the method of using wax to remove fine facial hair. A treatment often enjoyed by both men and women, it involves two or more areas in the face with the eyebrows, upper lip, and chin as the most common areas to wax. However, you can also go for a full-face waxing which would include the ears, cheeks, nostrils, and forehead. A full-face wax provides a more even-looking and clearer complexion, making it a good, clean canvass for makeup as well.

2. Underarm Waxing

Tip: During the process, make sure to lift your arm high. The key is to keep the skin as taut as possible. As well. avoid wearing clothing that is tight against the skin after your underarm waxing (and other waxing treatments, for that matter) as this may cause rubbing and irritation.

3. Full Leg Waxing

Waxing is the preferred method by many people when it comes to removing the hair on their legs. Apart from its long-lasting effect, this treatment is less abrasive on the skin and can cause the hair to grow back slower, thinner, and shorter than before. With regular full leg waxing, you can even improve your skin texture and avoid having rough and stubbly skin that you can otherwise get from shaving.

4. Bikini Waxing

Tip: There are different types of bikini waxes, like the basic bikini or full bikini. Just tell the wax specialist the extent of hair removal you want.  

5. Brazilian Waxing

Compared to a bikini wax, a Brazilian wax removes more hair in intimate areas. It includes the area between the legs and along the buttocks. You can go full Brazilian (also known as “Hollywood”) or leave a small neat “landing strip” (or whatever shape you fancy) of hair at the front.  

Tip: Your Brazilian waxing experience can be affected by various factors, including your hair and skin type. Before booking an appointment with a wax specialist, ensure that the length of the hair to be removed is about ¼”. Shorter or longer hair length may prolong the waxing process and lead to skin irritation. It’s also best to learn more about Brazilian waxing before proceeding.
