How to Determine Your Skin Type

Have you been wondering how to find out what type of skin you may have? Does your skin get too rough and tight? Or maybe too shiny? Or are you someone that has a well-balanced type, not too dry and not too shiny? Usually, skin types are determined by genetics. It means, the moment you were born, you have already decided it for you. But thanks to modern technology, products are created to help us in achieving healthy-looking skin we all dream of.

As your skin and beauty specialist, here at Bliss, we commit to share with you how to determine your skin type to help you understand the do’s and don’ts on purchasing the right product for you. Let us also give you product suggestions on each skin type. A skin test may be needed, but that’s too technical. Let us simplify these for you.

There are 4 different skin types, normal, oily, dry and combination skin.

Normal Skin

Out of the 4, this skin type is one for the books. We all wish to have just a normal skin type, it is not oily or shiny, not rough and tight, but just right. Here are some points to take note of to determine if you have normal skin.

Characteristics of normal skin types:

  • Free from skin blemishes
  • Pores are fine, hardly visible
  • Skin tone is even, clear, and smooth
  • Radiant complexion
  • Skin is neither too oily or too dry
  • Good blood circulation
  • Hardy against the elements and irritants

Though it may seem that you have almost perfect skin, it is important to maintain that healthy glow. Moisturising is the key. Our Moisturiser Anti Ageing 30+SPF Tinted 50ml is an overall product containing Vitamin B3, Kakadu plum seed oil, peptides, olive oil, Vitamin E, hyaluronic acid & lactic acid. This product can provide added benefits and it contains SPF to keep you protected from the harmful rays of the sun.

Oily Skin

Too shiny and have that sticky feeling on your face? Maybe you have oily skin. This skin type usually experiences breakouts and has large pores. The condition of your skin may change though depending on the weather. Usually for summer, this is the time where we get lots of breakouts because of too much heat.

Worry no more – we got it covered. Our Mayerling Skin Renewal System Foaming Cleanser dissolves impurities and removes traces of grease and dirt leaving your skin clean and flawless.

Dry Skin

Tightness, scaling, chapping, these are some of things you feel when you have dry skin. Your skin produces less sebum than the normal skin. This results in your skin lacking the nutrients needed to retain the moisture that we have on our skin naturally. This skin type is more sensitive thus we have to be careful with the ingredients we choose on the products we purchase. Our Adec Vitamin Facial Moisturiser 50gm helps in adding moisture to our skin as this is made especially for dry and sensitive skin. Contains a full range of anti-oxidant with vitamins A, C, E & D to protect the skin cells against free radicals.

Combination Skin

You’ll notice that the skin is sometimes unpredictable, it may be dry and normal but in some areas it is oily especially on the T-zone (forehead, nose and chin). Your skin produces more blackheads and your pores look a little larger than the other skin types because it is more open. This results in using different products to care for your skin. Try to notice your skin in winter, it is dry and in summer, it is oily.  Mayerling Summer Rejuvenation Pack is for you. It is a complete set for this skin type.

Points to ponder: Now you know your skin type, you have an idea of what products to use so as to avoid irritation that may result in a bigger problem.
