Should You Moisturise Your Skin Daily?

We understand how busy your everyday life can get; you might even miss your regular trip to the beauty salon. But there’s one thing you should never skip—moisturising. Yup, without beating around the bush, we’re here to tell you that yes, you should moisturise your skin every single day. However, more importantly, you should know why you must do it.

Moisturising every day is essential. Besides, who doesn’t want hydrated skin? If the sound of giving your skin nourishment and hydration it deserves, keep reading to learn more about the importance of daily moisturising.

Why Do You Need to Moisturise Daily?

Since you cleanse your skin twice a day, you should also moisturise twice a day—once in the morning and another time at night. Simply put, moisturise after every time you cleanse. But why is it important to moisturise every day?

One main reason is that external factors such as UV rays and pollution can damage your skin’s moisture barrier. Another thing is that as you age, your skin loses its ability to retain moisture. Regardless of your age or skin type, moisturising should be part of your daily beauty and skincare routine, especially if you want your skin to stay young.

The skin on your ears, neck, chest, and face is highly sensitive to environmental changes. These are also the most frequent areas known to develop skin cancer. Since these areas shed cells quicker than other parts, they need moisture to repair themselves. This moisture is the element that lets younger skin cells rise to the surface, giving you young-looking and smooth skin.

How Should You Moisturise Your Skin?

Now that you know the why, it’s also just as important to understand the how. We know it can get pretty overwhelming or confusing to figure out the order of applying your skincare products. Don’t worry. We’re here to help.

The rule of thumb is to apply your anti-ageing skincare products from thinnest to thickest, but make sure your face is clean first.

  • Step 1: Cleanser

Remove your makeup thoroughly and cleanse your face with a trusty cleanser. You can use either a foaming cleanser or a facial cream cleanser, depending on your skin type.

  • Step 2: Toner

Toner is meant to pick up all of the dirt and oil that your cleanser missed. It’s also a great way to prime your face for the products you’ll apply next, to make them penetrate better and be more effective.

  • Step 3: Serum

Give your face the power of serums. With serums, you allow your skin to take in all the nutrients it needs. The Skin Joy Daily Strength Serum can improve skin texture and strength. It plumps and smoothens your skin’s appearance too! The Skin Joy Night Repair Serum is an oil-based facial nighttime serum. It can undo, reverse, and protect against premature ageing and free radical damage.

  • Step 4: Spot Treatment

Spot treatments are products you directly apply to the affected area (not your entire face!). They shrink your blemishes without drying out your whole face. You can skip this step if you don’t have any blemishes. See a dermatologist if your acne is cystic or persistent.

  • Step 5: Eye Cream

As you may already know, the skin around the eyes is extra sensitive. Before you go and get eye treatments from the beauty salon, give yourself one of the most straightforward treatments of all: applying eye cream, like this power-packed eye cream from Maryerling. Use your ring finger to gently tap eye cream onto the area. Apply eye cream every morning and night to reduce the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines.

  • Step 6: Moisturiser

How do you secure the serums and moisture you just applied? With a face moisturiser, of course! Remember, you still need moisturiser even if you have oily skin.

  • Step 7: Sunscreen (Only in the morning)

Apply sunscreen as the last step of your morning routine. For added protection, use a moisturiser that already contains SPF. Take note that you don’t need to apply sunscreen at night. Moisturiser should be the last step of your routine when you’re about to go to bed.

If your skincare shelf still doesn’t have moisturiser, go get one now and give your skin the moisture it deserves! Check out our favourite anti-ageing products at Bliss Skin Care here.
